Caterpillar Acquires Italian Hose Maker

Agriculture and construction equipment maker Caterpillar Inc. said Tuesday it has completed its purchase of Italian industrial hose maker Rapisarda Industries.
Caterpillar said the acquisition follows a joint venture between the two companies that was set up in 1994. The company did not disclose the acquisition price.
Rapisarda employs about 430 people at four plants in Italy and one in Tunisia. The acquisition will be effective on Jan., Caterpillar said. Its shares moved up 92 cents to $57.66 on the New York Stock Exchange.
