The biggest access equipment event anywhere in the world.

APEX 2005 – The International Access Platform Exhibition & Conference in MECC Maastricht, The Netherlands

The fifth APEX aerial platform exhibition and conference, taking place in Maastricht, The Netherlands on 22-24 September 2005, is already almost fully booked with over 65 companies confirmed, including 12 access suppliers new to the event.

- A free conference held during the first day of the show will focus on the new European Temporary Working at Height Directive, providing equipment end-users and employers with detailed guidance on how to meet their health and safety obligations for staff working at height.

This year's APEX, which takes place three years after the previous event in 2002, is proving to be perfect timing for the European access industry, with sales of platforms to rental companies and end-users in the region increasing after several years of sluggish activity.

The optimism is backed up by the recent Confidence Survey carried out by Access International magazine, the official sponsoring publication of APEX. The survey found that:
- 49% of all companies contacted planned to expand their aerial platform fleets this year (the same figure in 2004 was 27%). A further 29% will replace existing equipment.
- 65% of access rental companies will expand their fleets in 2005, a further 15% will update their fleets (the equivalent figures in 2004 were 41% and 31%, respectively).

APEX will provide access equipment buyers – both rental companies and end users – with the perfect opportunity to view the latest product launches from all the world's major access equipment suppliers.
Companies booked for the event include major players such as JLG Industries, Skyjack, Pinguely-Haulotte, Genie Industries, Bronto, Manitou, Iteco, Anton Ruthmann, Upright, Holland Lift, and Wumag. These and the other exhibitors will present the entire range of available access equipment, including self-propelled scissor lifts, booms, push-around vertical mast machines, mast climbers, suspended platforms, trailer mounted platforms and vehicle mounted units.

New exhibitors this year include Italian companies Lionlift and Rovers, Lehmann of Germany, French scaffolding and access specialist Comabi, and UK company SEV.
In addition, specialist suppliers to the access industry for items such as batteries, software, control systems, parts and used equipment will also be exhibiting.

JLG Showcases Products at APEX Show in The Netherlands

JLG Industries, Inc. will be featuring its products at APEX 2005 - the International Access Platform Exhibition and Conference in Maastricht, The Netherlands. Being held from September 22 to September 24, 2005, this is the fifth year of the APEX show, which highlights the aerial work platform sector. The JLG exhibit houses interactive displays of JLG's value-added services and a dynamic presentation of select JLG products in application-specific environments.
Among the new products JLG will be showcasing are the Liftlux(TM) series of high-reaching scissor lifts that include seven rough terrain diesel models and two electric models - both types are available with CE specification. Additionally, the Tow-Pro(TM) trailer-mounted boom lifts will be introduced, which feature larger working envelopes and faster towing speeds, up to 100 km/h (65 mph), than similar products on the market. Caterpillar's Response To Hurricane Katrina

Caterpillar is extremely saddened by the loss of life and the destruction of property in the Gulf Coast region of the United States following Hurricane Katrina.

Thankfully all Caterpillar employees and their families in the region have been accounted for, and no casualties have been reported.

To provide assistance to the ongoing relief and recovery efforts associated with Hurricane Katrina, The Caterpillar Foundation is matching employee and retiree contributions made to The American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina relief fund and The Salvation Army's Hurricane Katrina relief fund.

Caterpillar and its dealer network have responded immediately to this disaster. Across the enterprise, efforts are well underway to mobilize product, personnel and resources to help our dealers assist the governmental and non-governmental agencies who are responding to this disaster. Here are just a few examples of what's taken place in the last few days:

At the request of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Electric Power Division has arranged for 60 Cat power modules to be shipped from Brazil to the Gulf Coast region. Each module can power 200-300 typical homes.
Solar Turbines Division is mobilizing resources to support its oil and gas customers in the region to help restore production as quickly as possible.
The North American Commercial Division (NACD) is coordinating with business units to divert additional equipment to Louisiana and Mississippi to aid in recovery and cleanup efforts.
The Wheel Loaders and Excavators Division (WLED) is donating two material handlers for use by municipalities in Louisiana and Mississippi. WLED is also working with Defense & Federal Products to donate a large material handler to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to help rebuild levees in New Orleans.
Due to the shortage of fuel, machines shipped to the region are being topped off with fuel at the plants so they can immediately be put into service.
Several Caterpillar employees have volunteered to use vacation time to travel to the region to help our dealers support their customers and the people of the Gulf Coast.
Caterpillar dealers from across the country and around the world have also offered to send personnel and provide other support to help in this effort.

Bobcat Company Responds to Hurricane Katrina Devastation Equipment Already in the Region to Assist with Cleanup

Bobcat Company is responding to the tremendous damage left in the wake of Hurricane Katrina by expediting equipment shipments to hardest-hit areas and offering a deferred loan-payment program. Bobcat Company is a business of Ingersoll-Rand Company Limited, a diversified industrial firm.

Bobcat officials say the company's Litchfield, Minn., factory began shipping industrial grapple attachments (used on Bobcat and competitive compact equipment) to Alabama and Mississippi Sunday night, anticipating the need. Six truckloads of grapples and three truckloads of Bobcat® loaders arrived in Mobile, Ala., Wednesday morning. Also, a portion of factory production at Bobcat facilities in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Georgia has been dedicated to satisfying continued need for machines and attachments — specifically for the areas of damage. Some of the equipment is being shipped to staging areas at Bobcat dealers surrounding the Gulf Coast region, orders for dealers in the affected areas are being expedited, and national equipment rental companies have placed emergency orders.

"We are doing everything we can to help residents and contractors in the region get equipment they need to help with rescue and recovery," said Joel Honeyman, vice-president of sales, North America.

More than 200 Bobcat industrial grapple attachments have already been shipped, according to Roy Molter, general manager of North American attachment operations. Molter said other Bobcat attachments — combination buckets, excavator clamps, rotating grapples, and heavy-duty loader buckets — will also be helpful in the disaster cleanup efforts.

Also, effective immediately, Ingersoll-Rand Financial Services, the primary finance arm for Bobcat products, is installing a deferred payment program for credit customers — new and existing — who may be unable to make payments for some time.

"It's going to take awhile for residents of the region to get back on their feet," Honeyman said. "It's too early to tell in most areas exactly what the needs are, but we wanted to at least start providing relief.
