Anti Two Blocking Device. Cranes
OSHA Requirements
1926.550(g)(3)(ii)(C)
A positive acting device shall be used which prevents contact between the load block or overhaul ball and the boom tip (anti-two-blocking device), or a system shall be used which deactivates the hoisting action before damage occurs in the event of a two-blocking situation (two-block damage prevention feature).
Standard Interpretations:
09/30/1991 - Failures with anti-two blocking devices
10/04/1989 - Cranes and personnel hoists
SAE J1305 Standard require that Two-Blocking System shall perform Control Lock-Out (neutralizing control and/or stopping motion which would result in two-blocking) or/and Controlled Payout (providing controlled payout of the load hoist rope at impending two-blocking).
