One of Australia’s fastest growing rental companies, Freo Cranes, has taken the first deliveries in its AUS$20 million (US$18 million) order with Manitowoc. The order for 15 Grove all-terrain cranes is the single biggest in the 35-year history of Freo Cranes. It is also believed to be the largest single order for all-terrain cranes ever placed in Australia.

The much awaited new series of tower cranes from Linden Comansa have now a date of commercialization. From July, the smallest models of the new LC 1100 series will be available: the 11 LC 90 5t and the 11 LC 90 6t. The rest of the series - 4 models: 11 LC 132 with 5 tons of maximum load, 11 LC 132 with 6 tons, the 11 LC 150 with 8 tons and the 11 LC 160, with 8 tons as well - will be available from this September.

In a country ravaged by conflict over several decades, the availability of affordable building materials may help spur redevelopment. Geo-Building Technologies, LLC (GBT), a licensee of Middleburg, Va.-based TerraBuilt Corp. Int’l., has introduced “The GreenMachine,” a portable, self-powered hydraulic system designed to fabricate structural, precision-engineered, tongue-and-groove compressed-earth blocks. Named “TerraBricks,” the units are produced from subsoil and can be stabilized with small quantities of cement or lime for greater strength and weather resistance. The new technology provides potential for sound, sustainable, and cost-effective construction in Afghanistan, most immediately, as well as other developing countries worldwide and possibly North America, TerraBuilt engineers contend.

Prices for iron and steel components were up 93 percent in May 2008, compared with May 2007, according to a June 30, American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) economics report. Higher steel and metal prices were one of the driving forces in pushing overall highway and street construction materials 15 percent higher compared to the same month in 2007. During the same time period, inflation, as measured by the Consumer Price Index was 4.2 percent. Overall, ARTBA has tracked a 48-percent increase in combined material costs from 2003 through the end of 2007. (more…)

Supplied by DUO Equipment of Coventry through their UK dealership the Gennaretti GHT 503 variable centrifuge processes up to 15tph of dry silt and is part of a complete turnkey operation which includes a full washing and water management plant supplied by DUO to Ellel Recycling Ltd for process operations at their Ellel Crag Quarry.
